We say this because here at Healthy Aging® Magazine, we are eternal optimists. You will see our optimism as a thread woven through our selection of articles throughout this and every issue.

Let’s start with travel.

Sure, travel has been on hold. But, our wanderlust is now heartened by the decline of COVID-19 cases globally and the hope of vaccinations lowering the disease’s risk. Travel industry research shows the stir-crazy feeling of being pent up at home, and better health protocols put in place by destinations are encouraging more travel bookings than we have seen in a long time.

The reality of international travel is still complicated. Every country has its own rules for entry. As a traveler, one needs to weigh the risks with the enjoyment of visiting a far off place.

For example, U.S. citizens traveling from the United States or certain other countries will need to show a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours before arrival and complete a Health Control Form. To return, travelers will be required to present a negative viral COVID-19 test taken within 3 days before departure on their U.S.-bound flight itinerary.

With international travel still so complicated, we focus in this issue on spa vacations closer to home. Yes, it is time to pamper yourself, and there are many fabulous spas open and waiting to pamper you.

Working now from home? We have ideas on how to make your home office a place where you love to work.

Spending a lot of time in your kitchen may have made you realize the heart of the home needs a little updating. We share ideas on what’s new and trending in kitchen design.

Trying to fulfill your New Year’s resolution of getting “back” into shape? You will find our roundup of fitness equipment, from indoor cycling and rowing to TRX bands, of interest.

Need healthier recipes to add to your menu rotation? You will find lots of healthy and delicious recipes from new cookbooks we have discovered.

Mental wellness is more important than ever now. We have several articles from professionals and inspirational everyday people, including a runner, a yoga trainer, and several entrepreneurs who will lift your spirits. And do see the cartoons shared by cartoonist Graham Harrop to keep that smile on your face.

Here’s to an optimistic 2021 … Join us in this spirit as you make your plans for moving forward. Enjoy the issue!

Carolyn E.
