Comfort combines ergonomic features and fixtures that make the physical workspace not only tolerable but pleasant throughout the workday. Separation is one of the biggest issues in setting up a home office. It means developing a space that doesn’t interfere with other activities in the home and vice versa so that you can effectively step away from the home office when your workday comes to an end.

“Get it right and you’ll still enjoy your home as a place you can comfortably live, socialize, relax, and even forget about work. Separation is also important in other ways. If your workspace is too integrated into the home, then noise, family members’ activities, and even pets may intrude on the workspace and your productivity time.”

Invest in beautiful office desk accessories that coordinate with your home. Photo: Christopher Shane Photography

Beautifully Organized

Another fantastic resource for organizing your home office is “Beautifully Organized,” by Nikki Boyd, professional organizer and author.

Boyd offers these tips:

1. Closets are a great space to create a home office command center. This keeps office items in one central place without cluttering your desk area.

2. When it comes to your home office, stay away from traditional office accessories such as the black stapler and hole punch. Invest in beautiful office desk accessories that coordinate with your home. This way your office does not become an eyesore in your home.

3. Hang motivational artwork in your space. Also, think about creating a vision board online, print it out, and then frame and place it on your desk.

4. If you love sticky notes, but dislike how they clutter your desk, get a beautiful journal and use it as your mouse pad. Whenever you use a sticky note place it on the inside of the journal. This keeps them all together but you don’t have to look at the clutter, and you have a beautiful mousepad.

[134,136

post-11084","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-winter-2021","category-winter-2021-columns
["GET
