Photo: (c) Robert Bredvad<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"recipe-card\"><\/p>\n<h3>Caramelized Onion Dip<\/h3>\n<p>SECRET INGREDIENT: SOY SAUCE<\/p>\n<p class=\"servings\">Makes 12 pastries<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil<\/li>\n<li>2 medium yellow onions, minced (2 cups)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon sugar<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 teaspoon kosher salt, divided<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups sour cream<\/li>\n<li>2 1\/2 teaspoons soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 teaspoon garlic powder<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives, divided<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon black pepper<\/li>\n<li>Potato chips or crudit\u00e9s, for serving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet set over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the onions, sugar, and 1\/4 teaspoon of the salt and cook, stirring, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, 15 to 20 minutes. Let the onions cool completely.<\/p>\n<p>In a medium bowl, stir together the cooled caramelized onions, sour cream, soy sauce, garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of the chives, the remaining 1\/2 teaspoon salt, and the pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, then top it with the remaining chives. Serve with chips or crudit\u00e9 for dipping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kelly\u2019s Note:<\/strong> For the best flavor, prepare the dip one day in advance and store it in the fridge, covered, until ready to serve.
