They can be good company to each other in a bowl.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Use roasted, cubed root vegetables<\/strong>\u200a\u2014\u200asuch as potatoes, carrots, or beets\u200a\u2014\u200aas a base.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add seasonings\u200a<\/strong>\u2014\u200asalt, freshly ground black pepper, minced garlic, pickled onions, and\/or a spoonful or two of \n        kimchichi,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Top with vegetable cousins<\/strong>\u200a\u2014\u200aroasted or steamed cauliflower or  broccoli florets and their cut-up stems, and roasted or \n        steamed thinly sliced cabbage wedges.\/li><\/p>\n<li><strong>Add a handful of raw vegetables<\/strong>\u200a\u2014\u200agrated carrots, finely chopped \u00adshallots, broken cauliflower and broccoli florets, or \n        chopped cabbage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add orange zest,<\/strong> topped with a handful of fresh orange segments spread across the cooked vegetables.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Make a vinaigrette<\/strong> with fresh orange juice and apple cider vinegar, shaken together with extra-virgin olive oil in a jar \n        with a tight-fitting lid, then seasoned with chopped tarragon, a bit of sea salt, and several grinds of black pepper. Taste. If \n        it\u2019s not bright, add more orange juice and shake again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pour the vinaigrette over<\/strong> the top of the bowl.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Finish<\/strong> with a sprinkle of chopped walnuts (toasted, if you have the time and inclination) just before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<p class=\"author-credit\">Excerpted from <em>No Recipe?
