A heating element heats the air, which is circulated by a fan. Air fryers work similarly to convection ovens, but they are generally smaller. Introduced in 2010 by Philips at a consumer electronics fair, the name Air Fryer has become generic like what has happened to the trademark names of Kleenex, Google and Xerox.<\/p>\n<p>Air fryers can cook food without as much oil as a deep fryer, yet can yield a fried texture and taste without the high level of added fat. Initially, the cooker gathered steam primarily through word-of-mouth testimonials.<\/p>\n<p>Wang, the founder of Instant Brands and now a board member, had a goal to have an Instant Pot in every household. He may not have yet achieved his goal, but he has made the multicooker a household name and appliance.<\/p>\n<p>According to NPD, a global market information company, air fryer usage has increased by more than 60 percent with sales by 76 percent over the last two years compared to the prior two years.
