Hachfeld is the former nutrition coordinator for the Mankato Heart Health Program and has volunteered with the American Heart Association for 35 years. Miller is a dietician whose career has included working with food companies and associations and is president of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmersdaughterconsulting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Farmer\u2019s Daughter\u00ae Consulting<\/a>, a marketing and communications company.<\/p>\n<p>The duo\u2019s new book offers 500 recipes focusing on promoting cardiovascular wellness. They offer five tips:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>There is no single dietary pattern best suited to every person. Still, there are traits common among eating patterns that predict outcomes, such as greater consumption of fruits, vegetables, and minimally processed foods.<\/li>\n<li>Healthful dietary patterns do not have to be low in total fat \u2026<\/li>\n<li>Health-promoting eating patterns never need to eliminate entire good groups \u2026<\/li>\n<li>If you want to focus on limiting a single nutrient \u2026 limit your sodium \u2026<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0There are no superfoods! Healthful eating patterns should be filled with a wide variety.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart.org\/en\/healthy-living\/healthy-eating\/eat-smart\/nutrition-basics\/mediterranean-diet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mediterranean<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhlbi.nih.gov\/education\/dash-eating-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DASH<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsph.harvard.edu\/nutritionsource\/healthy-weight\/diet-reviews\/mind-diet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIND<\/a> diets inspire the principles and practices the authors suggest.<\/p>\n<p>The almost 400-page resource emphasizes plant-based ingredients, healthy fats, and \u201cthoughtful\u201d use of dairy, poultry, and lean red meat.
