Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup
September 12 to 19, 2015, Newport, Rhode Island

The Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup is a biennial event hosted by the NYYC in Newport, Rhode Island at Harbour Court Clubhouse. The Invitational Cup is expected to attract close to 20 yacht club teams from 11 countries and five continents. This is an amateur competition between yacht clubs from around the world. For sailing fans there will be daily videos, live regatta coverage and an active social media presence.

“We’re always pleasantly surprised at the number of people from each participating club that follow this event in real time, no matter what hour it is at home,” says event chairperson Patti Young. “This year we plan to give them—and any sailing fan interested in top amateur competition—even more reason to tune in.”

A recap of the event will be broadcast a few months later on ESPN2 and a European sports network.

Wimbledon Championships 2015
June 29 to July 12, 2015, Wimbledon, England

The Wimbledon Championships, known as the most prestigious and oldest tennis tournament in the world, will attract over 450,000 spectators over the 13 days. Lucky ticket holders from around the world will descend upon the All England Club located in a southwest suburb of London. Last year, they consumed 142,000 portions of English strawberries, 28,000 bottles of champagne and 230,000 glasses of Pimm’s along with other delicacies served up at what is considered the largest single annual sporting catering operation carried out in Europe.

One of the four major tournaments, Wimbledon which began in 1877 is the only one played on grass. The other competitions making up the “Grand Slam” tennis tournaments are the U.S. Open, the French Open and the Australian Open.

Roger Federer will be chasing his eighth Wimbledon title. Serena Williams has her eye on winning the Grand Slam, a title akin to American Pharoah (Yes, “Pharoah” is correct spelling for the horse).

If you cannot get to London, the entire event will be broadcast in the U.S. on ESPN and ABC. Full schedule for the U.S. and around the world is here: Wimbledon Schedule

Calling all cheese lovers.
